Final Fantasy (NES – 1987)

One of the first console RPGs, Final Fantasy was created by Hironobu Sakaguchi with artwork from Yoshitaka Amano and music by Nobuo Uematsu. While many elements were adopted from past cRPGs, Final Fantasy’s unique setting and presentation made it stand out and helped popularize the Role Playing Game genre.
