Designed by Will Wright, SimCity was published by Maxis in 1989 for home computers and was a city simulation game where you took on the role of mayor of a brand new city with a small operating budget and a goal of attracting new citizens to live in your residential areas and work in your commercial and industrial areas. There were several great sequels until the development company was bought and dissolved by Electronic Arts and the IP was run directly into the ground first with a disasterous reboot in 2013 and then with subsequent cash grab mobile titles.
