The Sumerian Game (PC – 1964)

Designed by Mabel Addis and William McKay as part of a joint project between the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Westchester County New York and IBM for study into the use of computer-based simulation in education, the Sumerian Game was one of the first text-based strategy and resource management games ever made. Players must manage their grain supply, choosing how much is used for food, for planting, and for storage. Weather and disasters can affect the supply and to be successful the player must feed their population through several rounds.
